Help to create a webhosting service

Hi

I need help on how to make a webhost.
I want to make it just like any other webhosts
but not for anyone to use but those i give access.
So i guess i need help with what software to use
i already have apache, php, mysql but are there any other
that i need. I can already say that i prefer open source
over commercial software. Any help would be appriciated
and any pointers on what to do would also be appriciated.

Thanks

Going to have to clarify what you mean by "make a webhost". Serving who? How many? What kinds of web pages (Java? PHP? Plain HTML?), going to give shell access? What kind of environment are you putting this in?

If you've got Apache up and running, with PHP and MySQL, you can serve up a good amount of content. But you haven't said anything about the hardware you're on, what version/distro of Linux, so it's hard to say what else you need. Are you looking for content management stuff, user administration stuff, or what?

Okey sry will try and clarify.

It is to serve others but only a small number of people and i am
going to start with a basic apache, php, mysql then maybe add
other stuff as time or the need comes.

I dont have any hardware yet becuse i am trying to find
somethig sutible for my use but i take suggestions if there
is any good type o hardware.

The distro is problebly going to be Ubuntu server edition.

I wont be serving any cms that is for the user to install if they need it but i need some sort of control panel like for example cPanel.

But i wont pay for the software if i can avoid it so open source is going to be preferd over commercial.

If there is any more questions i waill try and answer them.

I am sorry if i missed some vital info i was barley awake when i posted it.
