Hi,
I have a sound blaster SBPCI64(ES170) on Debian Linux potato version 2.2. I cannot play the songs(.wav & .mp3) stored in one of my directories, /mnt/songs. This directory is of type vfat, and is mounted as "rw" from /etc/fstab, with the owner and group set to as root. The permission in the directory and its
subdirectory is rwxr-xr-x. I use Electric Ears 0.6.7 to play sound files.
The crux is that I can play Audio CD's and the sound from the sound card is perfect. I do not used Electric Ears to play audio tracks from CD. Rather I use the inbuilt CD player of Gnome. During bootup I receive the following message:-
es1370: version v0.31 time 19:13:36 Nov 18 2000
es1370: found adapter at io 0xe800 irq 10
es1370: features: joystick off, line in, mic impedance 0

The volume is also set high. Whenever the sound is attempted to be played with Electric Ears It gives an error :-
Audio File Library: error 5: Unix read failed

and the sound file is not loaded.

If anybody knows what I am doing wrong, or what I should do then please let me know. If you think that I should use another sound player then kindly tell me the name and from where I can obtain it.

Any Help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
