1) Slow down. :-) Be more precise and clear with your post!

2) You have to learn patience. Everyone who's using Linux learns to have vast amounts of it. You won't learn it overnight. It's *not* Windows. It's not easy - but it is *better* for you, your brain, your PC.

3) How much of your 160GB drive do you want to dedicate to Linux? You know that there are Linux distros out there that you can run right from the CD to 'test drive' them before installing them?

Ubuntu
Gentoo

Just some examples.

Use the search feature and type in dual boot or something similar, there are MANY posts on here devoted to this topic, it gets asked at least 20 time daily.

Once you are started and then if you encounter problems ask for help. I doubt that any one wants to outline something again and again and again.

Edit:

Did you partition your drive? How do you know you installed it to that drive, what drive did you select during the installation. Did grub get installed or is it still the windows boot loader, I am assuming the latter as if grub was installed windows would not load automatically unless you chose that as default.
