What about my 2nd qn; which secure ftp are you trying to install? Normally with RHEL you just 'yum install <pkg name>'.

The sftp sw is part of ssh pkg, which would normally be part of the std install; try

rpm -qa|grep -i ssh

to check.

To check vsftp

rpm -qa|grep -i vsftp
