Problem with sentmail! HELP

First of all hi there everyone!

This site and forum rocks!!!! I've learned so much by reading just a few hundred threads off here.

Anyhow, I am having a small problem and I hope you guys can help me out.

I am a total newb in this because I just installed red hat 7.3 about 4 days ago. It's been running fine, I've been installing other themes, installing GAIM 0.66 (which also runs very well!) and some other stuff.

However, today, I have accidentally shut off my system through the power button. I know it's not good at all, but I was gonna turn on my other windows system (both PC towers are stacked up over each other) and I accidentally went for the wrong power button

Now, the system was running some programs such as Galeon, KMail, GAIM while it happened. I can actually boot up "fine", there is just this small little "problem" I haven't had before.

here a short BOOTUP sequence:

Starting sshd:
Starting xinetd:
Starting lpd: No Printers Defined
Starting sendmail: _

this is where it kinda hangs - it sits there for probably 1-2 minutes (with a blinking cursor) but if you see the rest flashing on and off like nothing, this seems to take an awful long time within the bootup sequence.

After maybe 2 minutes again, it continues just fine with the rest
and even brings up the X windows as this is what I'm using as the boot method.

Now, does anyone know how I could go ahead and look into this and try to fix it?

Maybe I can check some kind of boot log and see what happened there or something, it's just I would like to get this fixed and I'm sure I also could learn off that.

PLEASE HELP ME - YOU GUYS ROCK! :D

NOTICE: whenever I check mail, it works just fine and very quick!, however, whenever I send emails now, it again takes a while to do so (sendmail must work because I actually receive my test mails back)

You run a mail server on your computer?

The problem is with host name resolution, and it has been discussed here many times. Search the forums for sendmail and dns and you should get some good advice.

thanks!!!

you've given me the right hint!
I remembered that I've changed the DNS and all I had to do what change it back. It seems sendmail uses the 127.0.0.1 loop to start up properly or at least faster.

Thanks again!

woohoo and I'm back to my fast sendmail
