You can find Qtparted or GParted in Knoppix.

is this a HD with existing data or not?
Are you planning to install linux, or is this just a small
partition you want to save small files (say)

for the non gui option you have cfdisk, fdisk...
It is great to mess with those to learn, but you can loose all data.
Definitely a good knowledge to have

help

to Emmanuel_uk

I have a system which has a 80gb SATA drive. I want to remaster a copy of knoppix and i have to get it done in the next few days.

As i said i have a system capable of remastering knoppix, ie 1gb ram, 3.2 p4 processor and lots of space on the hard drive. I have been reading up about remastering and it says i need to format 3gb partition ext2/3. I dont know how to do that and would like your help in this matter.

By the way i do have windows 2000 on the system, but if this needs to go then i dont mind wiping windows 2000 as i have a backup of the drive.

Thanks
Lukman

Qtparted or GParted are fine. It is all GUI, click and drag
You need first to downsize the Zindows partition before you can create
new partitions, then it is kind of obvious in Qtparted or GParted
If it is fat32 it should be easy (be sure to defrag before)
Resizing may have some risks, but you have a backup so it is ok

Background on ntfs resize

Alternatively you can use any ZIndows utility and even create
a fat32 partition, then use knoppix to format the fat32 into ext3

I cannot explain how the GUI works if this is what you are asking
