Perhaps the hardware
Previous I had a microstar main-board and Intel PII processor and it worked just fine. Today I have Amd athlon and Matsoníc main-board. Perhaps are these hardware not as compatible as the more known microstar and Intel are.
But both Suse and Slackware where failsafe. The redhat8 where unable to insert Se-latin6 and refused to recognize my Via-chip soundcard
