Help:Programming Graphics/Games under Linux

dear guys and gals

i started using linux four months ago.
i bought a book on graphics but all its programs are
under DOS environ.

graphics.h etc..

i heard of libggi

and some game engines
also of DirectX and stuff.

can somebody suggest sites/books to learn graphics under c/c++ under Linux.

i read review of linux game programming book not being good from Loki company guys.

help requested.

thanking you

are games written under Linux in some library(as c doesnt support graphics by itself)

You might try looking into SDL, and OpenGL as a start.

Most of the code for these two apply equally to windows and Linux, ( Maybe SDL is a little more Linux biased ).

i have heard of OpenGl i will look at SDL
