Tell us more about your Internet connection please. Do you connect via cable or DSL modem? Does it use DHCP? What does the /var/log/messages and if set at boot /var/log/boot files tell you regarding the network card. Any errors should appear in one of those two files.

So you saying you DSL provider does not use DHCP and your IP address that your ISP is giving you is "81.17.198.127" is this what your saying?

Because you might wan to try and use DHCP to see if that works?

(Sep 18 14:43:38 linux dhcpcd[2086]: broadcasting DHCP_DISCOVER
Sep 18 14:43:48 linux dhcpcd[2086]: timed out waiting for a valid DHCP server response
Looks suspicious)

what does the command ifconfig output as root?
what happens whenyou try to ping somewhere?
what happens when you:

SuSEfirewall2 stop
ping yahoo.com
SuSEfirewall2 start

?

cat /var/log/messages | grep SuSEfirewall2 | grep 'Sep 19'

and maybe

cat /var/log/messages | grep SuSE-FW | grep 'Sep 19'

You interface card is not being recognized. Or in not configured. Try looking in the file:

ifcfg-eth0

And putting in the correct setting from you ISP. What distro are you on?

OK SuSE:

Sep 19 11:10:36 penaz ifup-route: Warning: Could not set up default route via interface eth0n Command ip route replace to default via 255.255.255.0 returned:n . RTNETLINK answers: Network is unreachablen Configuration line: default 255.255.255.0 - - n This needs NOT to be AN ERROR if you set up multiple interfaces.n See man 5 routes how to avoid this warning.n

IS your problem. Go into Yast > Network and play with your route.
