Unhappy Help Pls Setup backup and Tape drive

Hi there

Very new to Linux and will ready love some help........
I currently try to do a install of Redhat 9 on a Proliant DL380 G3 server and it will not work, but then found out that it is not support by HP on that server with RD9, so I put on RD8 with no problem.

But then we have a hot swap AIT 50GB tape drive that I was tryng to use, will no luck, contacted HP and they said that hot swap is not supported in RD8........
1. How could I work around this?
2. I would really like a step by step help on how to set up the tape backup?

Thank in advance for any help!!!

I have really tryed alot off differen things and now lost
