Help please, problems connecting to RH9

I have set up two boxes.One Xp the othetr RH9 and RH9 is to be used as a server.with no monitor,keyboard etc attached. I installed RH9 and set up the sysytem so I can connect to RH9 and all was well. Then I detach the monitor and move the box to its new loaction and reboot. Guess what no connecfion even though the LAN cable is fixed up OK.

Does this mean I cant boot into RH9 without a monitor attached.
That seems to defeat the point in hasving it as a server.

Help please..

RedHat will boot just fine without a monitor. That has nothing to do with your network connection working or not. Did you test the connection with the monitor attached? How are you trying to connect to the RedHat machine? Is the little light on the back of the network card lit up?

Yes I have tried booting with the monitor attached and it works fine , and If I unplug the monitor when I am viewing from the VPN viewer I can still connect to RH9 OK . Only when I reboot Linux without the monitor attached do I get the message"failed to obtain server adrress" from the VPN viewer. I've tried acess from Network Neighborhood In XP and also unconnected.

I have set bios not to halt on errors so don't know where to go from there?

does the headless computer make any beeps during startup?
if you boot it and then plug in a monitor what happens?
