Help please guys -Cant see anything on Monitor.

Guys I am in a serious mess, this is my first attempt at linux installation and before my first login I have got srewed.

I successfully installed Red hat Linux WS 3, after installation I configured my monitor to 1024*768 resolution (usually used by me on win XP). Then after rebooting, during startup, after an array of ok's my monitor goes blank and it says frequency out of reach. Please oh, generous souls help this poor creature who is being sabotaged by Linux WS 3. By the way my monitor is Philips 107E and it is 17''.

I suggest that you take the easy route first, and re-run the install. If you have dual boot facility, search for tech spec of the monitor (if you don't have a nice fat instruction book for it).

Then you should (theoretically) be able to apply the manual setting of resolution and V and H frequency.

I usually have to do that with my Philps Brilliance 201B (a large business monitor that I got second hand).

regards

John

p.s. Oh and if you system uses nvidia based graphics, you may still get a crappy graphical view untill you have the nvidia driver installed (again, I also have to do that).

hit ctl-alt-f2

that should bring you to a text based login.

From there, you'll can run redhat-config-x????? i forget, just type redhat-config and hit tab a few times and it will list your choices. Look for one that says xfree86, or xwindow something.

That will let you reconfig your video settings. Pick the right ones this time.
