Help Please. dd command to external device

Hello

I'm running Fedora Core 5 on my PS3 and I would like to know (due to very very slow network transfer speed) how to dd to an external ext3 drive.

I've tried many formats for the of=..... part of the command without success.

Is it best to create a link to it (read this somewhere but not sure how to do) and then refer to as of=/dev/.... ?

Plug the external in and just do "/sbin/fdisk -l" from a terminal.
That'll tell what it's called - probably /dev/sd[a,b]... whatever.

Use you partition as the "of".
