(please talk in lamemans terms) heres my comp stats: amd duron 750 (over clocked to 944mhz) 2 hard drives both 40Gb (master is partitioned) 512Mb DDR of ram asus A7A266 mobo ati radeon 64 DDR vivo sound blaster xgamer DVD CD burner All outdated and crappy i know but i am working on it |
freeze up ?
you need to give more info. error messages ? mouse still respond ? can you re-start X with ctrl-alt-backspace ? anyway, it sounds to me like its the graphics drivers / openGL. are you running a clean fedora install ? if so, install the ATI graphics card driver, it will be much better that the generic one that comes with linux. also, you need a subject title. most people decide wether or not to read a post depending on its title. every1 who posts wants help. you dnt need to say that. but maybe put in your graphics card, and a brief description of problem. |
thanks qwijibow ill keep that in mind. yes the mouse does respond movment only, no error messages, yes it is a clean install, ctrl-alt-backspace does not work.
i went to ati.com but they have 3 drivers. http://ati.com/support/drivers/linux...7&submit=GO%21 wich one? does it matter, or is it trial and error? |
lol.. nooo.
NEVER trial and error ! if you dont know, work it out. look at the table it shows you, there are drivers for 3 different versions of XFree86. download the one for whatever XFree86 version you are running. run the following command rpm -q XFree86 im also funning fedora, so i know that when u run that the output will be XFree86-4.3.0-42 so download the driver for XFree86 version 4.3 |
