Help pick distro.
I need help.
I'm setting up a computer for my grandmother to use to play some basic games and learn to use the internet. I'm not sure either what distro would be easy enough for her to use, or which distro would run on her computer. She has an old 300Mhz Compaq with 64MB ram. |
Slackware :D
|
Vector, Damnsmall, etc.
Something without kde or gnome. Zenwalk would also be good. |
How's the wireless support in Zenwalk? I'm going to have to set her up online wirelessly.
|
No idea.
I do see ndiswrapper offered as a zenwalk package. |
For your grandmother? Give her OS X
If your hell bent on giving her linux... then i'd go with Mandrake. |
linuxquestions search function!!! come on, you don't think that question has been asked before!!!!!

Well ... he's going to need a minimalistic install with any distro he chooses with 300 mhz and 64 mb ram. I doubt kde or gnome would run.
Vector likes to boast its ability to support older hardware and to run with minimum memory requirements. http://www.vectorlinux.com/ |
