help partitioning hard drive before/during fedora install

1 Attachment(s)
I'm trying to install Fedora onto my hard drive. I have a 600 GB hard drive that came pre-partitioned (20 GB, 100 MB, and 575 GB for personal use). Of the 575, I have maybe 100 GB filled. I reduced the size of the partition in Windows to be 225 GB for Linux and the rest for Windows.

I'm going through the Fedora installation and am at the step "What type of installation would you like to use?" I'm trying to install alongside Windows, so I don't want the "Use All Space" option. I don't have an existing Linux system on this computer, so I don't want that option either. The other remaining options are: Shrink Current System, Use Free Space, and Create Custom Layout. I tried shrinking the 575GB partition, using the free space, and creating a custom layout. I keep getting the same error ("Could not allocate requested partitions: not enough free space"). Now, just going out on a limb and saying 225 GB is enough to install a DVD so there's something wrong. I know Fedora is recognizing the partition as free space because of the attached image. I'm really frustrated right now. Can someone please help me?

You actually have 4 primary partitions. This is the limit imposed by MSDOS/Windows. No matter how much space you have you can't create another partition.
The work-around for this is to use "logical" partitions - but to do that you have to delete a partition, and create an "extended" partition. The extended is a container for any logical partitions you create.
All standard - google around for the history of it all.

What is that vfat partition ?. Maybe some vendor "tool" ?. If that were deleted you could allocate the 225 Gig as an extended, the allocate logicals for root (/) and swap, and continue the install. Depends if the vfat is needed.
