Unhappy Help >Opensuse 11.4 with XFCE desktop sound problem.


Hi All,

I've just installed opensuse 11.4 with XFCE desktop, my problem is, when i try to play an MP3 file i get "You do not have a decoder to play this file.You might need to install necessary plugins."

Please help

It' s not a sound problem, you must add additional repository and install software!
At the moment I'm not on openSuse, so I can't give direct help.

I recommend you install the various xine packages from Packman, and use the xine engine in your multimedia applications. This works not only for kde, but also other desktops. I have done this on fvwm2, xfce and icewm desktops, and it works great. (in addition to xine, also grab mad and lame).
Do you want RPM packages for any of these decoder?

Thanks alfredo10 & Baxzius, i wasn't successful with packman so i installed KDE's amarok player on my xfce desktop, then i was prompted to download missing MP3 files, so now i can play MP3 files using xfce's Parole media player, however i've noticed that i cannot play video files.
