Help on RHSS??
 

I read about Satellite Server from Red Hat Inc. for package and inventory update.But few of LQ experts suggested using Spacewalk.Spacewalk is limited to Linux ( Fedora, Ubuntu,Free Distros). All I want is setup My Own Satellite Server for RHEL. Anyone who has an idea how can I setup My Own Satellite Server which gets updated through YUM from Red Hat Inc.

you can only get RedHat updates if you have a FULL RHN Satellite license and that is VERY expensive. Your best bet is to run a centos box with spacewalk, following their howto guides for zero pennies.

Can CentOS setup with Spacewalk will work for RHEL?

We have Red Hat Subscription But I dont know if Satellite Server CDs can be downloaded free of cost.
Say,if its not free of cost, Then I want to Build the similar Satellite Server for my Firm for all RHEL Machine.There would be a single Machine <Just like satellite server> which would be synched to RHN and all the rest of intranet local LAN machines will be updated everyday.

Also, Do Recommend how can I setup My Own Satellite Server with hints?
Just Read http://www.redhat.com/red_hat_network/faq/ and came to know that its not free.

Again, without purchasing it from RedHat, you'll never have a Satellite server, only a Spacewalk one. Satellite / Spacewalk does not care what distribution you're managing, only that it only handles RPM repositories so not much it can do with debian etc. I expect you could manage config files and a few other bits.

if you have a system on RHN as normal with yum repositories already working then there are tools to firstly copy them fron the net (reposync) and then secondly to upload them to spacewalk (rhnpush). These will always be "Custom" channels though, not official redhat ones, AFAIK.

What are the things Spacewalk can do what satellite can't and vice versa?I read the docs but couldnt find the difference in their usage.
It may be that I am not acquainted with both before Using them but your advise will definitely help me know beforehand.

I'm not too sure TBH. It's only recently that Spacewalk came into life and a fair few things don't work well, and I'm not really sure how that's possible as it's all based on a pretty mature code base in the first place... best bet is the official docs and faqs

I will look into Spacewalk once again..No Issue.
Anyone who has experienced using Spacewalk...advise are welcome.
