help needed...wanna create my unix
 

Hi all there...

i wanna create my own version of unix mainly for my personal use(ofcourse i'm ready to give it out for free).....i wannna give support for .exe files in the kernal itself and support for ntfs and fat file system. but i don't wanna take up the whole job.....

my plan is only to create/modify the kernel(i can use linux kernel)...abd grub as bootloader...... :Pengy:

my doubt after i create/modify the kernal how do i integrate grub and desktop environment like kde and gnome into it... :scratch:

plz help..... :)

check out LFS.

with linux, (unix) you dont want too too much integration. the way linux works is that it relies on hundreds of other small software programs to operate. this makes for easier and more efficient management of the entire system.

i think the only way possible to run Windows applications on linux is to use a program such as WINE. if it were possible, im sure it would be well known.

linux already has support for fat and ntfs file systems. however, writing to a ntfs partition from linux can screw up the drive and its data.
