help needed regarding ndiswrapper and my wi fi card
I had intel 5100 wifi card in my sony vaio laptop. My OS is Linuxmint 10. After installing linux i was wondering if i can install windows wifi driver for my wifi card so i installed with the help of ndiswrapper. I downloaded the driver for my wifi card from intel website then extracted it and then used the inf files to install driver. it told me hardware found and on writing ndiswrapper -l command it gave following output:
netw5v32 : driver installed device (8086:4232) present (alternate driver: iwlagn) but my wifi card has stopped working and it shows no wifi connection. now every time when i start my ubuntu i have to give 'sudo modprobe iwlagn' to acces wifi. Any help |
You shouldn't need to use ndiswrapper, as there's already an in-kernel driver for those devices (iwlagn, as you're told). Why are you trying to use ndiswrapper?

Before doing that, first go to: system > administration > additional drivers, to see if Mint can enable the driver automatically for you. You should first uninstall or disable the Windows driver that you installed using ndiswrapper to prevent any conflicts. |
