Help needed for some Filesystem and NIC performance tests
 

Hi Experts:

I have following case in front of me and need suggestions:

1. What is the max NFS share size a CentOS installed(ext3 file system), can mount? As per my readings it shall be able to mount the share and access should not be an issue but while using "df" kind of utilities, it may not show correct results but that is not critical, please through some light on this?
2. How to count IOPS per node for NAS?
3. What are the best utilities/tools to determine the throughput of NIC. Any online link for detailed through put results of NIC's performance. We are using Dell Servers so will be preferably using Intel Pro 1000 gigbit NIC or Broadcom NetXtreme II BCM5708 1000Base-T nics.
4. I need to do performance test for XFS, EXT4 and NTFS file systems, kindly suggest some online information that what kind of test needs to be performed and what utilities should be used? Our application will be more intensive on write, so need to stress write operations.

Hi!

This is just an update to queries that how i managed it:

1. There doesn't seems to be any limitation on NFS share mount, I tried with HP's ExDS9100 Storage and this was cool without any issues.
2. Still searching on this.
3. Used iperf and ttcp, both are cool utilities. (Found info for these utilities by doing some search under lq forum).
4. So, far I have done some tests on XFS and this seems cool and shall be working on NTFS & EXT4 and update the results here.

Plz, update me if there is another best approach/method available for these tests/tasks or if there is some online links from where I can take some help.
