Please use better thread titles in future, i.e. ones that describe the problem you're having. When you post a thread, you are told that titles like "help me" are bad.

You really should try installing a newer distro than Red Hat 9, because it's out of date and is no longer supported by Red Hat.

Agree better title will yield you better results.

For a more up to date version go to:
http://distrowatch.com/
All the distrobutions have download links there.

Some will mail you the install CD's if you have trouble downloading and burning the ISO's.

You have a very robust machine, using older software can cause issues. The older software might not know how to deal with newer hardware.

I agree, help yourself first but creating a better thread title and stop using all caps. Using caps indicates your yelling at us. If you're yelling, you get no help at all.

jschiwal 06-05-2008 02:36 PM

The distro you are trying to install is so old compared to the architecture of your computer that you are bound to have problems. Sata drives weren't even invented back then so the install kernel won't be able to recognize the controllers.

I was thinking of posting this in all caps so you could see for yourself how it looks like to the recipient.

OK--Now you know to use better thread titles, to turn off the caps, and to not use RedHat 9.

One reason (of many) for not using Redhat 9 is if you have a SATA drive. RedHat 9 won't support SATA.
Another hint that your should consider: When you post an error message, tell us exactly what you were doing at the time---eg what step of the install procedure?
