help me to recover data

I recently installed ubuntu on windows xp & now i am not able to boot in windows xp.
When i boot it directly starts ubuntu & windows xp is not there in the grub boot list.
Please help me to get windows xp back & data stored on it.
Is there way to recover data stored on it or to recover partion used in xp.

Try running Knoppix from it's live CD.
in Konqueror go to /boot/grub and open menu.lst.
in the end of the file you should find:

title Windows
root (hd0,0)
chainloader +1
It is this code that GRUB uses to start windows.
