Help me to install a clear Linux kenel image !

I'm trying to install a clear Linux kenel 2.4 , but it's not easily...

First of all, i use Partition Magic to split my Hard Disk, creat a root partition and a swap partion.

But i don't know what's next step ?

Anyone can help me ? Is is possible ? Have any book or papers can give me a good guide to to this ?

Thank you !

umm, do you have a GNU/Linux OS?, cause if you don't then just go find a distribution of it, cause it sounds like your trying to install the kernel in its own partition, but alone the kernel is useless so i dono what your trying to do... so if you want to sue it, go get a distribution

As you are trying for the first time, please try Fedora Core 1.
