Currently i have a windows xp-prof running on it.

please let me know firstly, as to what is the latest version of Red hat

Linux, is it 11(i have heard )?.

Secondly, where do i download it from(plz give me the complete Link).

Thirdly, how much space it"ll take and what would be the downloading

time taken?(i have a 64 kbps broadband internet connection at home

with a downloading speed of 7 kb/sec)

Fourthly, since i am entirely new to linux(except some vi and basic linux
commands here and there) plz also let me know where will i learn the
step by step installation instructions for installing the above latest

u have a very slow speed to download Linux
redhat now supports the Fedora commuity to bring out free LINUX
latest is fedora core 3
with 4 Cds

that will take a lot of time on ur connection

the best bet will be to get a book ,which comes with linux complimentory CDs
or lookout for the nearest Linux user group in ur area and ask them to help u out

I'm assuming you mean 20GB...

The latest version of RedHat is Fedora Core 3. It's made by RedHat, and you can download it for free.
You can get it from here:

With your connection, it would take about 85 hours to download. All four CDs are about 2GB. You can get it on a single DVD if you have a burner too.

The installation's really easy - it guides you through itself, have a look here:

Good luck!

Edit: I type too slowly.
