Help me please

I'm using suse 10.0
wht software is the best to play audio (mp3)?
And also I need a guide how to install it.
The default player (Amarok) can't play the audio with mp3 extension, why?

My opinion is that amaroK is the best audio player under Linux!!!! You only need the codecs for it to play mp3s.. thats why I don't wreally like Suse... Doasn't have media codecs out of the box... but you can download them...
BTW "Help me please" is NOT a good thread title...:tisk: maybe "mp3 playback issue"....

I too like Amarok, does everything i need and looks purdy, and as stated above, no MP3 support out of the box in Suse 10, a search of these forums yielded quite a few results, such as this one

XMMS, JuK and mpg321 (or mpg123) can all play MP3s as well. I read a review for amaroK in Linux Format and was put off trying it because it sounds a bit bloated.

Yeah you could consider it bloated compared to mpeg321 :), plus it requires the KDE libs. Personally i like it because it's clean, functional and has some useful tools, my music collection is a mess so i like the inbuilt tag editor, makes it very easy to organise them as i go

and you can have a bit or karaoke along side with the lyrics tab

Read through the whole article, it might answer some other questions too.

I don't have a favourite player, I don't care as long as it has got a playlist. I use Totem on gnome and Kaffeine on kde. Just because it's already there.
