i am trying to download wine and install it but i dont know how to do so because everythiing is sooo confusing i really wanna learn slackware linux stuff but everything kinda confuses me is there a websites to help extreme noobies out?...

Slackware is a lot of fun to learn but could be considered one of the more advanced Linux operating systems. Just know that if you can get over the hump with Slack and learn it then you can basically transition to any Linux distro and besides a couple of quams like different package management software you will feel right at home.


Keep in mind this is something that will take you time to learn. Keep another Windows or Mac or whatever you are most used to available so when you start to get frustrated you can just switch over and come back to it.

The best way to install Wine would be to install the Slackbuild.

The Slackbook. It's a little bit dated but still quite useful on the basics of how Slackware operates.

The Slackware Documentation Project. (Edit: I see Kustom42 has already pointed you in that direction.)

The Slackware forum right here at LQ is the "unofficial" official Slackware forum--it's a great place for help.

I started with Slack and I'm glad I did. Once you understand Slackware, no other distro will ever intimidate you, because Slackware will teach you how to figure stuff out, while also giving you a fully functioning distro to use for general computing while you do.

thanks for all your help ill start small with devian and grow up to slackware....guess i got alot to learn =)

I'm too finding it tough, I'm guilty too about not able to do this simple thing and planned to hire a technician who could do it perfectly. Let me check the above methods anyway!
