Post help me out here


i have install linux 4.0[etch] on a old p11 computer and its set up as a server. how can i connect it to the net? i have a router and rj45 50 feet wire. my computer has a nic card. but i can't connect it to the internet?

The router is not the issue---we need to know what your actual internet connection is---eg DSL, cable, dial-up.

Assuming that there is a working connection, then how is the router setup--eg DHCP or static IP? Typically, you would get to the router config page by entering 192.168.1.1 into a browser window.

Tell us as much as you can about the configuration, and we can be more help.
