Help me opensourcerers!

please do give me advice on where to start in setting up an internet server,
I am having problem where to begin, should I start reading about Samba and Stuff(cause I really don't know anything about it), study IP-Masquarading, firewall how-to etc.

please help the Linux Newbie, desperately stagnant right now...

Use apache. Most new Distros come with it pre-installed if you selected it during install of the OS. ask you admin if you have it. If you are admin (and from your details you have RH9) so try typing in term:

/sbin/services httpd start

that should start it. also go to the redhat website ( and check out their manuals on the OS (theres 3 main ones) which deal with setting up apache and its modules (php, etc)
