Help me! Hatari (Atari ST Emulator) no longer works!

Hi all,

I have recently installed Linux YDL on my PS3 and have successfully got several Emulators up and running. The Atari 2600 one works particularly well

However, I have encountered a very annoying problem with Hatari (an Atari ST Emulator). Once I had compiled and installed the program, all appeared to be well. I started the program up and the screen resolution was very small and difficult to see. I then changed the VDI resolution to 1024x768 and had to restart the program to apply the changes. When I went to start the program up again, nothing.

I then went into the terminal and tried to lucnh using the 'hatari' command but again the program failed to launch and I got a message along the lines of 'VDI - No video large enough to support 1024x768'.

Has anyone else had this problem? I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling etc but still get the same error message.

Is there a file I can go in and adjust the resolution at startup etc? I have been searching high and low for a solution but so far nothing. I have read all the documentation imaginable and found a few commands relating to VDI but they are not working for me!

Hope someone can help!

Thanks in advance

Have you tried the atari user forums? I noticed several posts about emulators, including, atari (incrementing resolution slowly) there:

Also, here is the help forum from the hatari website:

specifically, here is a post about screen size:

Here is the user's manual:

Make note of the vdi width and height commands on this page, when starting the software from the command line:

Read the emulated video section here:

It says that 99% of the games cannot use the extended VDI mode

whats the resolution of your PS3? doesnt the PS3 output to HDTV, whose ratio is 16:9, not 4:3 like a conventional monitor? maybe you wont be able to do that res.
