Help me find my ideal PDF viewer
 

In Windows I use Sumatra PDF. It's rather lightweight and has the functions I need. In Linux I've been using Okular, but since I'm running XFCE, I'd rather not have the system filled with KDE libraries.

So here's what I need:
Scrolling with the mouse (grabbing the page)
When I close a PDF, have it reopen at the page I left it in
Fit to Width
Go to page
Fast rendering, not necessarily very precise
Lightweight

That's basically it. The default viewer fits the bill pretty much, put the mouse scroll is done with the middle button and the rendering isn't really fast.

I like Okular for Linux. I find it more versatile and friendlier than xpdf. I consider Gnome Document Viewer a distant third.

I've been using Foxit Reader for Windows. It is much smaller, faster, and lighter than that horrible Acrobat kludge, but I use Windows so seldom I don't know whether something better than Foxit has come long since I started using it several years ago.

I've been using Evince (Gnome Document Viewer) and love it. The only feature it doesn't have I think is being able to reopen a file at the page you left off on.

xpdf has a way too ugly UI, I think I'm going to stay with the default reader and Okular, they seem to be the more well-rounded out of the ones I've tried.

xpdf is one of very few PDF viewers than can change the paper color. E.g. if you find white backgrounds harsh at night in a dimly lit room, xpdf is ideal.

Sumatra also runs fine in wine.

If you want editing capability there is
Full Adobe(yuk), pdfxcview or foxit in wine
pdfedit (another QT app)
ps2pdf
pdf2ps
abiword etc.
