Help me
I am basically an windows guy and new to linux. I know the basics but some how have phobia about linux.
How do I go about. My goal is to administer linux servers. How much time it will take for me and how difficult it is? |
Hi and welcome to LQ.
It all depends on you, on how much motivation you have and how much effort you want to put in. Are those skills needed for your existing job or is it something you're thinking of doing in the future? The best way would be to install some linux distros (centos, slackware, debian) and play with them. There're lots of tutorials online. What kind of servers are we talking about? |

How much time and how difficult it is, depends on you, what you're trying to learn, in what environment, and how deeply you WANT to learn. The question is sort of like asking "how high is up?". Some administrators are responsible for EVERYTHING on the server (apps, databases, etc.); some don't. Some administrate five servers....some 5000. |
