Here is an explanation of how to get your modem working with Linux:

http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Huawei_E220

Essentially this web page says that if you are using kernel 2.6.20 or later the modem should just work. If you are using kernel 2.6.19 or earlier then you need to go through a lot of rigmarole to get the modem working which the web page explains in great detail.

You can find out what kernel you are using with this command:

uname -r

You may find people are more likely to be able to help you if you provide information such as:

- What kind of minibook you have purchased
- What version of Linux it runs. (Though that can probably be derived by the answer to the previous question.)

Also using useful titles for your post is a good idea. A far better title for your post than 'help me' would be 'vodafone E220 HSDPA USB MODEM with WhateverKindOfMinibookYouHave'.

This appears to be the same device that Elonex are selling in the UK as the Elonex One T, also sold as the Alpha 400, Razorbook 3, Skytone, Maplin Minibook, Silverstar Epc, and the Trendtac Intertoys laptop in Holland - amongst other stick on names.

The best place to get information is:http://projects.kwaak.net/twiki/bin/view/Epc700/WebHome

It uses a MIPS set, so applications for x86 aren't any good, Debian & Gentoo do MIPS-based applications.

The kernel used is 2.4.
