Help Me:

Installed FC8. It will not Find my Floppy Drive. Does anyone know why this happens with the FC8. Did the Live CD install, all else went fine = DVD. I open computer icon to find all drives except my floppy. Is not there!
Thanks, Artie315

Someone who still owns a Floppy...neat! Uhmm...is your floppy drive plugged in, cable connected, etc?

I don't know about FC8 but many linux distributions do not automount a floppy drive. You just need to find out how to handle that for FC.

BTW, you could look for a menu entry for listing hardware (sorry, I don't know what FC8 has) just to see if it shows a drive and I bet it does.

Good luck

As root try to run
Code:

modprobe floppy
The modprobe command loads modules temporarily. To permanently add the module to your system, add the modprobe command line to one of your start-up scripts.
Good Luck

Thanks to you all for your prompt response to my problem. It will be a little while before I can get to it. My medical needs have to come first (broken spine). Soon as I can sit up long enough to play with it I will do so. You people are great, thanks again to you all.

I had this problem with FC5. It was there when the system was first installed, then after the first update, it was gone never to come back. I think it's a gnome problem. Just mount it manually or put it in the fstab and then it will probably appear twice.

Just for the record, the last "Core" release was FC6. That was followed by Fedora 7
