hai all,

i have installed RHEL4 in my laptop and i installed realplayer for linux. i could able to play music using the GUI. i want to play mp3 songs from command line. i tried the following command and i got the following result.

[root@electron Thenali]# realplay /home/Songs/songs/Thenali/ Alangati Mazhai.mp3
Ignoring unknown options: (null) SSH_AGENT_PID=3316 KDE_MULTIHEAD=false HOSTNAME=electron
the thing i mounted the file from my windows OS. could any one help me in this. any help would be appreciated a much. thanks alot in advance.

For one thing, you shouldn't need to be root to run "realplay". Also, you have a space between "/" and "Alangati" that shouldn't be there. Another thing is that you need to escape the space between "Alangati" and "Mazhai", ie. it should be "Alangati\ Mazhai.mp3".

Try those and see what happens.

Also, PLEASE don't use rubbish thread titles like "Help me". They won't help you get helped any quicker and you're even told that they're bad titles when you post a thread.

thank you for guidance but it is not working. i did all the corrections suggested by you. but it is not working. is anything to do with the player? i am looking forward your reply..........

In future please give your thread a more meaningful name (e.g. name your thread - how to play mp3 from shell). By the way. This way you will be able to find information in google, yahoo etc...
