would be nice to give us some details. What OS is installed? Probably you can log into single user mode and fix this problem, but without details hard to say anything. What do you mean by factory reset?

You could give this link a go, and see what happens.

Best of luck.

ICEauthority is used only for graphics, so you should still be able to log in in text mode. ctrl+alt+F2 should give you a text console, where you can enter your user name and password (the password will not appear on the screen but it will still be read). Then try to use the method suggested by camorri.

I suggest that next time you ask for help, you use a more descriptive title than Help me and go easy on the exclamation marks!

Welcome to LQ,

Here is a link in our FAQ which tells you better ways to construct a question, including a more helpful title.

My initial, and not really helpful reply would be that if you want to factory reset it, then you can. Nothing to do with Linux, instead you'd need to look up how to factory restore your specific computer. It's a rather extreme step, so I'm assuming that's frustration talking.

The other alternatives are to consider the advice of others and also provide some additional information such as the distribution which you're running and then indicate if you can live boot from a USB or DVD and be able to diagnose the system, or instead to use non-graphics mode as suggested and diagnose that way. The troubleshooting link provide would be helpful to review and try.
