First don't panic.
What is the last things you did before KDE not starting any more ?

You can start your machine on runlevel 3 without graphical interface.
after that, make a backup of the directories containing your college work.
make also a backup of your configuration files.

After that try to reverse what you've done which broke KDE.
If it's not possible you can re-install KDE on your machine and start afresh.
I presume you have installation CD or DVD.

You may even re-install all your system if you have a backup or a copy of all your important files, I suppose in your /home directories.

I hope you will manage this moment of crisis.
Keep quiet, it's always better than to panic.

download the knoppix boot CD .iso file. Boot with it. Use k3b to copy all your data to a CD-R. Fix debian if you can. If not, all your work is on the CD-R, so reinstall debian
