Help - installing Suse 8.2 from a *.file

How do you install this? I have downloaded the CDs from a bittorrent website and then joined them together using hjsplitpro, now I have 5 files with the extension *.file, ie CD1 suse82_1.file 729,584 KB. What do I do now?

I have Nero to burn the CDs when I get them! I understand from a google search that the extension file is an IBM - UNIX extension - I just want to know how to load them onto my pc.

Cheers

"I just want to know how to load them onto my pc."

After you burn the CDs then you boot CD 1. It will boot into Linux and run the SuSE install program.

Fast response...

When you say 'burn' the CD - do you mean just save the file onto a CD? I am running Windows XP at the moment and do not have linux installed - I am going to partition the hard drive using Partition Magic. I am pretty new at all this linux stuff :)

No, he means pull up a cd-writer program, load the image you downloaded into it, and "burn" a cd. This is much different than saving.

Ps. If you have difficulty with this, you may want to go pick up a few linux guides and general computer guides, and read them, before you install anything. As installing linux is a tad bit more complicated than the relatively simple process of burning a cd.

OK - could you recommend a CD-Writer program and also a book.
