Help Installing Back Track 5 (Problems with Wifi and GUI)
I have never installed Linux before. I have used Puppy Linux, Ubuntu, and Back Track off of a USB.
I tried installing Back Track on an old desktop (dual boot), but I am running into problems. The first, when I type "startx" I get a "fatal server error: no screens found" After this I found a solution that had me type "nvidia-xconfig" , but my computer says "not found". I have no ethernet cable because I just moved, so I can not update or upgrade, and there is no wireless capability because I do not have the drivers for the 2Wire wireless adapter the desktop uses. Is there a way to solve this without using an ethernet cable? |
I can't help you with your problem directly, but have you tried Kali Linux? It's the successor of BackTrack. See the announcements in their blog.
