Hi, first time poster
How do install a gui onto red hat. i get past the login at the consol screen, but i keep finding my self typing help can some one point me in the direction of how to install a gui Thanks :newbie: Btw i'm on red hat 7.2 |
unless you install a server by default instead of a custom or workstation option, the gui which is X should already be installed...
type startx at the command prompt to start the gui interface. -trickykid |
ya red hat is pretty standard. it will just install the gui. now be aware that if you need to know where your going to install the os. a buddy of mine didnt know the difference between his 2 hd's so his blank one stayed blank and the one with windows xp and all of his warez and stuff was lost because he loaded it on his xp drive. LOL! I am a newbie to red hat 7.2 but dang that just means he cant read.

have you checked your hardware on the xfree86.org site to make sure its supported ?? have you tried to reconfigure X with Xconfigurator ??
