help i cant login to mandrake
 

ok im on the black screen were it has localhost login: when i was installing mandrake i didnt use a password but it wont work if i dont enter a password. i need help....

use a password in the future. if you need to login to set the password boot in single user mode (aka root login), this can be done by configuring grub correctly. you also may be able use use a livecd, mount the drive, chroot in and change the pass, either way youre gonna need a livecd

Do you mean Mandriva? Mandrake is obsolete

When you boot, hit any key when the grub menu appears and type "e" to go into the edit mode. find the kernel line and add the word "single" to the end. The boot and you will be able to log in without a password.

Now you can set a password using "passwd root"
