Help!!! How to install GLib, GTK, ATK and Pango, just to get Firefox running. LOL
I'm having a majorly hard time with Linux, despite I'm able to connect to the internet and thus posting this under Linux!!! Today, for the first time, I'm able to post here from Linux!!!
I'm majorly lucky that I'm even able to access the internet at all from Linux!!!
how to install programs depends on the Linux-distro you're running.
sounds like you encountered some dependency-prob's.
but you should give more info on what you have and what you want to do...
i think we need even more info like exact comands you use that yeild exact error messages
you say

you mean by "get"
to download firefox ??
or compile firefox ??
or run firefox ??
or install some binary build of firefox ??
we can't tell
some thing must have told you to install GLib, GTK, ATK and Pango
which is the gnome core essentailly or part of it
do you not have those things at all ??
do you think you need newer versions ??
or when you try to compile firefox are you missing developement files -- headers or something ??
have you figured out how to use your distributions package manager ???
i don't know about mandrake accept it's redhat like and uses rpm files to install things
and yes what gug said is true mandrake 8.1 is over two years old so newer versions of things are going to give you a hard time even if you really know what you are doing. Linux is not very reverse compatable these days due to fairly extreem advances in kernel/compiler/and core libs

I'm missing some dependencies and thus can't compile Mozilla Firefox.
Mandrake 8.1 is probably too old to have the packages Firefox needs (It shipped with GTK+ 1 and a pre-release of GTK+ 2). A versions of Mandrake come with Firefox RPMs ready to install, so you don't have to compile anything.
(If you still want to compile Firefox, make sure you install the -devel RPMs for any libraries it needs.)
