Introduction to Linux - A Hands on Guide
This guide was created as an overview of the Linux Operating System, geared toward new users as an exploration tour and getting started guide, with exercises at the end of each chapter.
For more advanced trainees it can be a desktop reference, and a collection of the base knowledge needed to proceed with system and network administration. This book contains many real life examples derived from the author's experience as a Linux system and network administrator, trainer and consultant. They hope these examples will help you to get a better understanding of the Linux system and that you feel encouraged to try out things on your own.

I'm a Linux newbie, and I just setup a dual boot of Windows Vista and Linux Ubuntu 9.10, it was a clean install and I ran both OS's for a day without incident. This is on my Dell Inspiron 1545.
However, after restarting my computer I got the following error:
"GRUB loading.
the symbol "b_dd?nit" not found.
Aborted. Press any key to exit"
Any help how to solve this would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

that is if your grub is installed that way. Normally it'll be in that location. Once opened check if you find the string that gives you the error. Maybe something went wrong with the grub install but you would only notice it after the first reboot, hence why you could work the first day.
