help getting java to work in mozilla

java issue with mozilla

hi joined a previous thread but thought i might get a quicker response if i began a new thread...

I am using fedora and installed mozilla and am having issues getting it to work with java...here is what i have done so far, any suggestions are appreciated...

I'm new to linux and this site see similar question posted and followed directions but just like previous user after creating soft link using ln -s /usr/java/j2sdk1.4.2_03/jre/plugin/i386/ns610-gcc32/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/local/mozilla/plugins/libjavaplugin_oji.so i now go to a java page and the browser closes immediately. i tried logging in as another user, logging on and off as root and rebooting. also being new to linux i don't understand the posting about changing permissions but here are the permissions on my java file...-rwxr-xr-x 1 root bin 281904 Nov 18 19:53 libjavaplugin_oji.so. thanks newbie really wants to move from window and needs help

The site http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/ is very helpful with plugins. Check it out.
