If you mean that you're trying to install 'drivers' for an HP DeskJet printer and they're stored in a zip file, then stop.

If you're using Mandrake 8.0 or 8.1, then go into the 'Mandrake Control Centre' (as root) and go to the printers sections. There will probably be some stuff about CUPS there - this is what you want (the Common Unix Printing System)

If the printer is connected directly to your computer (most probably) then you want a Local Printer and select lp0 (this is the equivalent to LPT1: ). Select the printer and you're away.

If you're using an older version of Mandrake, then you will want to use 'DrakConf'. They're actually (almost) the same program. Just different names, and very slightly different GUIs.

Sorry about the double post here - pressed 'Submit' instead of 'Preview' by accident.

there is an 'edit' button as well thymox!

I use md80 and all that CUPS gubbins, and whilst posh programs like starwriter can print find, lower level ones like ghostview always give me an error... any ideas? i'm using the same command for both.. just 'lpr'
