I am a complete newbie to linux. I just installed Corel Linux on my AMD k6II 400, 128 mg ram, Diamond Stealth III S540, 15 gig HD. Now heres the problem, got it installed, but when I try to run it it loads my monitor goes black and my monior says "OUT OF RANGE" the message is speaking of the resolution or refresh rate (I think). If anyone can please help please let me know!!!

Thanks Eric

frequency...

Yeah it is trying to run your monitor.. out of the frequency it can handle.. or at a higher resolution then it can handle..
Personaly to fix it.. I would dump corel linux..
but honestly.. at the command prompt you can run XF86config.. to change the options.

Oh wow...I thought I gave an answer in another forum...guess I am seeing things....but yes....use the XF86config to try and change your settings. I have more detailed answer I got from Corel's site in the other forum.

but what command prompt?

i have a problem with my redhat install...i used a 19 inch AOC monitor, it all worked beautifully. i used redhat for a while, then i had to take the machine back to the office. where i have a 15 inch AOC monitor. i know nothing about linux, all i know is redhat boots into a gui screen, then a terminal like type where it loads services and what nots, then a login prompt that lasts about 1/2 a second, and then my screen goes black. i know im supposed to edit some config file from a command prompt but i dont know where that command prompt is? the closest is a grub command prompt...
