Help

Downloaded mandrake iso and made a bootable cd rom from burning software. Still had to boot to floppy, but that seems to start the intallation process, when it tries to start the intallation It tells me that the CD 'does not appear to be a Mandrake Installation CD', what am I doing wrong?

I) Most lickely you didn't burn the image properly. go into the CDRom, and see what file are located in it. If you have a bunch of directories, and file then you should be fine, but if you have a *.iso file then you didn't burn properly.

If you didn't properly then perform the following steps:

What software did you use to burn the image, and what are the steps that you did to burn it.

If you are using Nero Burning ROM for Windows, this is what you need to do to burn the image:

1) File > Burn Image
2) Chose the .iso image
3) Click on Burn, or OK --> I forgot what the button was, but it should be easy to follow here.

II) IF you burned it properly, then maybe the *.iso you downloaded is corrupted or not completly downloaded. Do an MD5 Checksum on the file, and if it shows that the file is not completly downloaded, then you will beed to download the files again, and burn the images again.

I used 'Easy CD Creator'.....

Any ideas there?

I would suggest that you first start with the downloaded .iso images. Run md5sum against each and make sure the result matches whatever the source says the sum should be. EZCD Creator also has a burn from image option. You can also run an md5sum against each CD to see if it was burned incorrectly.

ECDC is known for NOT making bootable CD's by default. Sadly, most only know this proggy.

I moved to Nero long ago. A few clicks and I'm burning bootables.

Fixed It!! It was not burning image cd correctly. I double clicked the iso file and that forced ECDC to start up an image burn. I couldn't find that option in the file menus anywhere. I am on my way now!! Wahooo!! Thanks for the help!!
