Cool Hello There - Linux World!

After spending quite some time in MS Windows world, I felt need of coming to Linux for advancing my career. And my search for linux links brought me here a few months before.
It really feels great to here and introducing myself to the linux world.
When I began exploring different flavors, I installed openSUSE,openSOLARIS,ubuntu with different configurations on my laptop as host OS as well as on VBOX. While these OS made a great choice for exploring Linux, I had to switch to RHEL as that was the OS in use at my company and I needed to be up and running fast on supporting Oracle and MySQL running in the network.
I am yet a newbie and just know enough to carry out day to day work for my databases.
Hoping to learn a lot and share it with others on this platform.

Hi gfs.
That is a really nice post that you have there. I have never used RHEL before nor any of its derivatives like Fedora and CentOS but if I do in the future I will be looking for your advice and comments, so I hope you can help.

An observation I have about your post is that I don't think OpenSolaris is a Linux base OS. I think is more of a UNIX base OS like MAC OS and FreeBSD, but hey what do I know!

Take care, enjoy and good luck to you!
