Hello one and all...
I am new to the forum and Linux in general. I am presently installing Ubuntu 9.0.4 on an AOpen AX59Pro with an AMD K6-II 450Mhz and 782 mb ram. has anyone ever tried this before with any other flavor of Linux? it appears that the VIA chipset 4n1 drivers need to be loaded before the OS install.

Hi, welcome to LQ!
And while I haven't tried installing anything on a machine with that motherboard, its age (and the fact that someone has Linux running on it and can't get an extra PCI Card to play with it to me kind of suggests that it should be just working. What is the problem you're facing? Cheers, Tink |
I have installed Ubuntu on an AMD board 400 Mhz 768 MB of RAM, and it worked surprisingly well. Ubuntu (compared to other distros) actually has a ridiculously huge amount of hardware support.
When you refer to the chipset, you are referring to CPU-FSB chipset, correct? |

I am having some really weird problems now but, I have heard that Linux does not like KVM's and maybe that is my problem all along. I'm using a Belken KVM for two computers which is not "powered". I'll have to drum-up my other keyboard and mouse and see if things calm down on the next try at loading the OS.
