Hello LQ friends!!
Hi everyone,
I'm completely new in Linux, I was reading some threads to encourage me to change de OS... and now I'm fighting with Lubuntu... I'm using an Acer Aspire One to get the first experiences, because of that I choose Lubuntu, it seams to be light for the hardware. So, here my first question. Touching without knowing, I duplicate the WiFi icon using the command nm-applet. So now if I want to remove one, both disappear. What can I do?? Regards, |
Hi Trolla,
welcome to Linux. What's important to know is that there's a choice for Linux users for almost every program. In this case: LUbuntu comes preconfigured to use the LXDE as desktop environment. I have little experience with it. You should probably look for documentation of LXDE... though even the "panel" (taskbar) might be a different program, that falls out of the scope of LXDE. [I quickly looked it up, and the program you're using is likely "LXPanel"] There's a good chance you can get the icon back by right-clicking your panel, or find it somewhere in the configuration under the start menu. |
Welcome to LQ! I think Weapon_S's suggestions are probably the best. I don't have much to contribute regarding the question except that they were probably shortcuts, which I think you already knew.

Welcome to the forum :) Can you tell us where you put the second icon? Is it on the toolbar or the desktop? If you could provide us with a screenshot, that would be helpful, as well. Regards... |
Do you still have a wifi icon on the lower right side of the task bar?
If you deleted the task bar, that is unrecoverable, in it's default form. Initially did you right click on the task bar and then change the wifi icon using the resulting menu? If you still have a task bar you can add a wifi icon, although it will be different than the original. Right click on the task bar, then select Add/remove panel items, which will give you the panel preferences box, select panel applets, then click Add. this will give you a list of available plugins, scroll down to Manage Networks and click Add. Follow the same procedure for any other applets you wish to add to the task bar, Example- Temperature Monitor And welcome to the forum:) |
